Mary Lou DeZeeuw Photography

Hi, I'm Mary Lou!

Ever since I first held a camera, I’ve been captivated by the way a single frame can freeze a fleeting moment. Photography, for me, is more than just a hobby—it’s a way of seeing the world. Through the lens, ordinary scenes transform into stories, emotions, and memories I might otherwise forget.

I love how photography demands both patience and spontaneity. It teaches me to slow down, to notice the subtle shifts in light or the expression on someone’s face just before they smile. Whether I’m wandering through a city or hiking through nature, my camera is an extension of how I connect with the world around me.

Today, my photographs grace walls and hearts. Each frame whispers stories of resilience and grace, a reflection of the Creator’s hand in my life. Through my lens, I offer the world a glimpse of glory, one image at a time.

You love those places, but even when you can’t stay there or visit when you want to, you can experience it in your home.

My First Impressions -- Nature's Beauty

Maroon Bells Aspen Colorado

There are literally millions of compositions to be found at the Maroon Bells-Snowmass wilderness, I could spend months there exploring with my camera. This was first snow at dawn before the Aspen turned brilliant golden-orange.

Acacia Tree Sunset Kenya

Acacia trees are a prominent and iconic feature of the Kenya Landscape, particularly in savana and bushland areas. Catching the evening sunset silouette, a family of elephants, is right out of the Lion King! Beauty unmatched.

Napa Valley Vineyard

Napa and Sonoma Wine Country is one of the world's premier wine destinations.

Strolling thru the vineyards and photographing fall harvest beauty is an experience I will cherish for a lifetime.

What Photography Means To Me

Photography changed my life

Preserving nature for future generations is essential; this conviction inspires my photography so that the wonders of distant places can be appreciated in our daily environments.

I believe art extends beyond mere representation—it evokes emotion and connection in viewers. Each image reveals the distinct character of its subject and the remarkable moments I have witnessed, whether along remote trails at dawn, windswept coastlines, or within vibrant ancient historical sites.

My fine art photography shares what clientele have experienced during travel adventures across America and around the world.

A Moment in Time - My favorite Photo

Selecting a favorite photo is challenging; it can be as complex as choosing a favorite song or food. Preferences tend to shift over time—today’s selection may differ from next month’s, as each image captures a unique moment and set of experiences. Frequently, the most recently taken photos become preferred choices.

At present, this particular Alaska fireweed photo is chosen for its representation of nature’s raw beauty. An overcast, cold and damp day on the Kenai River bank. It is likely that another photo will be preferred in the future.

By next month I hope I will have taken a new photo that I love even more!

I love my camera deeply—not just as a tool, but as a constant companion in my journey through life.

It's been with me across continents, capturing moments both grand and intimate, giving me the power to freeze time and tell stories through light and perspective. From quiet alleys in old towns to sweeping mountain vistas, it has helped me see the world more clearly and express the way I feel about it.
